Bain Elementary to be Razed for Super Station

Before the new “super fire station” can be constructed, Bain Elementary School must be razed. After Wednesday’s Public Works Committee meeting, city aldermen said the former school on 52nd St. would be leveled if the plan to combine two fire stations goes through. The two stations considered for closure are Station 3, on Roosevelt Road and Station 5 on Washington Road. Firefighters and city officials say Station 5 is not able to accommodate larger fire trucks and is in desperate need of repair. A “super station” similar to Pleasant Prairie’s new station would allow emergency crews to respond quicker to areas of the city with high demand.
