Final Interviews for Fire Chief on Tuesday

The Kenosha Police and Fire Commission will conduct final interviews for Kenosha’s next fire chief on Tuesday.  The final three are Battalion Chief Matthew Haerter, Battalion Chief Kenneth Schroeder and Capt. Charles Leipzig Jr. In addition to overseeing more than 150 employees, the new chief will likely manage a new “super station” at the former Bain Elementary School. Under the plan making its way through city departments, two city fire stations would close and merge into one station at 52nd Street and 22nd Avenue. When hired, the new chief will replace John Thomsen, who retired in July after 32 years with the department.
