Probation in Christmas Day Beating

A man originally facing up to 20 years in prison for attacking his girlfriend’s father with a baseball bat was sentenced to three years probation Friday. 25-year-old Alexander Garcia was initially charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon for the Christmas Day beating of his ex-girlfriend’s father. Garcia allegedly beat 58-year-old Thomas Eppers of Twin Lakes with a metal baseball bat, leaving him unconscious with serious head injuries. Because he has no prior record, Judge Bruce Schroeder placed Garcia on probation for three years, with a condition that he serve an additional 65 days in jail before his release. He has been held in the Kenosha County Detention Center since his arrest on Christmas 2015.
