New Fire Chief Officially Appointed

By Emily Jacobs

The Kenosha Police and Fire Commission has taken action to formally appoint their new fire chief this evening. Earlier this month, the Commission chose Charles Leipzig Jr. to succeed John Thomsen, who retired as chief in July. The commission said Leipzig’s department vision, humility and inclusiveness of personnel stood out to the commissioners. Leipzig will oversee more than 150 employees, stations scattered throughout the city and dozens of pieces of apparatus within the department. He will also see the development of a new “super station” at 52nd Street and 22nd Avenue.
