Almost Half of Keno. County Registered Voters Cast An Early Ballot

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLIP) — Nearly half of Kenosha County’s registered voters have already cast their ballots ahead of Tuesday’s election, according to county officials.

County Clerk Regi Waligora reported Monday that 46,009 absentee ballots have been returned, representing approximately 48% of the county’s 96,128 registered voters.

This includes 30,403 ballots cast during in-person absentee voting at municipal clerk offices.

The county has seen a 4.6% increase in voter registration since Oct. 1, with 4,246 new registrants.

More than half of these new voters are from the City of Kenosha.

Wisconsin residents can still register to vote at their polling places on Election Day.

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Waligora cautioned that election results may be delayed due to the high volume of absentee ballots and the need to count write-in votes by hand.

Four municipalities — Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, Salem Lakes and the Village of Somers — use central count facilities for processing absentee ballots rather than counting them at polling locations.

Initial results will be posted on the county website beginning around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, with updates throughout the evening.

Official results will be certified by the County Board of Canvassers in the days following the election.
