Arrest Made of National Retail Theft Group Members
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (WLIP) – The Pleasant Prairie Police Department announced the arrest of three alleged members of a national retail theft group in October.
The department’s 2nd Shift Officers received information regarding a national retail theft group responsible for a theft at a Nike department store in Oshkosh, Wis.
It was anticipated that this group would target the Nike store at the Premium Outlet Mall. Upon arrival at the shopping center, officers verified the information and identified a vehicle matching the suspects’ description.
They acted swiftly to apprehend the individuals involved and recovered over $3,000 in allegedly stolen merchandise.
During a post-incident investigation, officers learned that these individuals were said to be connected to a larger Peruvian national group responsible for retail thefts totaling more than $54,000 across multiple states.
The three arrested individuals were identified as Juan Yancunta-Quiroz, Jose Arteaga-Sanchez, and Darwin Velasquez.
All three were arrested for Receiving/Possession of Stolen Property (valued between $2,500 and $5,000) as well as outstanding out-of-county warrants.
