KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–Update 9:30 AM: One person is dead after they apparently fled from a traffic stop Thursday morning.

The crash happened at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Highway E in Somers. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department reports that a deputy tried to pull over a 2001 Ford Explorer in the forty-three hundred block of Highway E around 7:15 AM.

The deputy initiated the stop after the driver of the Explorer almost hit the squad car. After the deputy identified the driver, they reportedly fled westbound on E and then collided with a Semi that was headed southbound on Green Bay Road. The SUV ended up under the semi.

The driver of the Explorer was killed. The driver of the semi and the driver in a third vehicle that was hit by debris were uninjured.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation and we’ll have more info as it becomes available.

 

Initial Story: A crash involving a semi truck and a sedan closed down parts of Green Bay in Kenosha this morning.

The accident happened around 7:30 AM near Green Bay Road and Highway E in Somers. Initial scanner reports indicated that the crash happened after a motorist reportedly fled from a traffic stop. The report also stated that there may have been a fatality.
