Chicago Mayor Proposes Gift Cards To Help Pay For Gas

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot wants to give residents gift cards to help pay for gas.
Lightfoot’s proposal would spend $7.5 million on prepaid gas cards, and another $5 million on prepaid mass transit cards.
10,000 cards would be given out each month for the next five months, using a lottery system.
Gas prices in Illinois are higher than the national average – currently at $4.46 per gallon.
