KENOSHA, WI—The Kenosha City Council approved the sale of the former Alford Building downtown to a Chicago Developer.

The Alford Building, at 702 58th street, was built in 1930 and has been vacant for several years.

Kenosha bought the building in 2017 and will now sell it-for one dollar-to Blue Paint Development LLC. The sale comes with the conditions of a 7-point-75 million dollar renovation plan and eventual occupancy.

One of the major projects on the building will be asbestos removal. The city will be responsible for up to 500-thousand dollars toward that effort.

16th district Alderman Dominic Ruffalo asked city redevelopment officials who would be responsible for the rest.

Construction must begin by April and be completed by early 2022.
