Despite Pandemic, Gateway Holds Annual MLK Day Program Virtually

KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–Gateway Technical College hosted its annual Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Day program virtually Monday.

Tammi Summers, Gateway’s vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion was the keynote speaker and Zina Haywood, Executive Vice President/Provost of Gateway Technical College was the host. DeOnna Garrison-a 17 year old senior from Racine Case High School-performed an original piece entitled “I Have Something To Say.”

The 2021 Humanitarian Award recipients are Gregory Bennett-founder and director of Peace in the Streets, an organization committed to helping Kenosha’s youth-and Seeds of Hope- a nonprofit organization based out of Elkhorn, providing a positive and structured program to meet the needs of developmentally disabled youth and adults.
