Extended EtO Testing is Underway in Waukegan and Gurnee

(Waukegan, IL) Extended testing is underway outside of two Lake County plants accused of emitting a cancer causing substance.

The 90-day tests outside of Medline in Waukegan and Vantage Specialty Chemicals in Gurnee are expected to look at ethylene oxide levels both before and after upgrades at each plant.

At a townhall style meeting earlier this month, the plants were threatened with closures by local politicians, and those on the state level.

Over the weekend, workers at Medline expressed concerns that closures would lead to massive job losses.
