MADISON, Wis. (WLIP) — Gov. Tony Evers and the state’s Department of Natural Resources have announced more than 273 million dollars in funding to improve drinking water infrastructure across 86 municipalities-including Kenosha and Racine.
The funding, which includes federal dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will go toward projects to replace lead service lines and address contaminants like PFAS.
The state has more than 167,000 known lead service lines, and the funding will help communities like Kenosha continue efforts to replace them.
Wisconsin is one of four states participating in a federal program to accelerate lead pipe replacement.
