Gov Evers Issues Mask Mandate

MADISON, Wis. (WLIP & AP) — Gov. Tony Evers has issued a statewide mask order amid a spike in coronavirus cases in the state.

The governor on Thursday ordered the wearing of masks starting Saturday. The new emergency order goes into effect at 12:01 AM.

Evers says that there is enough evidence to show that masks will help mitigate the spread of the virus.

State Rep. Steve Nass called for a special legislative session in Madison to oppose the order. He called it “illegal and unnecessary”
