Gurnee Man Arrested for Allegedly Speeding Over 50 MPH Above Limit and Fleeing from Deputies
Gurnee, IL (WLIP)–A Gurnee man was arrested after allegedly speeding more than 50 miles per hour over the limit and fleeing from law enforcement.
It happened Thursday night at approximately 10:15 p.m.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies reportedly clocked 47 year old Austin M. Williams driving a pickup at 104 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone on Route 41 in Wadsworth.
During the traffic stop, Williams allegedly fled westbound in Gurnee, and authorities later found his abandoned vehicle near his home.
When a juvenile, claiming ownership of the truck, interfered with the towing process, he was taken into custody.
Williams reportedly arrived soon after, allegedly resisted deputies, and was subdued using a Taser.
Williams faces multiple charges, including resisting and obstructing a peace officer, reckless driving, and aggravated speeding, and is due in court on November 6.
