One Dead After Gurnee Shooting; High Speed Chase

(Gurnee, IL)  One person was killed, and five people were taken into custody after an incident this morning.

This morning around 1:15, Lake County Sheriff’s officials responded to Old Mill Creek on reports of an attempted vehicle theft, where the owner of the vehicle was said to shoot at the suspects.

A short time later, a crash at Grand and Hunt Club in Gurnee was reported. As police investigated, a Lexus drove up, and two people got out, one with a gunshot wound, and a person looking to help that individual.

The four other occupants in the Lexus took off, and led police on a high speed chase that ended in Chicago where the three men and one woman were taken into custody.

The wounded man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the individual who got out of the car with him was taken into custody. Illinois State Police and Chicago Police assisted in the arrests.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
