High Speed Vehicle Leaves Road; Crashes into Driveway

KENOSHA,WI—A scary situation unfolded in Mt Pleasant yesterday as a high speed vehicle crashed near a residence.

A woman inside a vehicle called 911 around 4:15 PM and said that the driver of the vehicle was driving recklessly near Highway 11 and Oakes Road. Police were dispatched to that area.

The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, reportedly around 70 miles per hour until it came upon slowing traffic at Cozy Acres Road. The vehicle left the road, went into the ditch, struck a sign, hitting a culvert, and jumping into a driveway in the 6600 block of Durand Avenue.

The driver, identified as Joseph Balderas, allegedly fled the scene and was tracked to a wooded area where he was arrested. He’s charged with hit and run causing injury and reckless driving causing injury. The woman was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
