Investigators Release More Info on Fatal Officer Involved Shooting

KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–The Wisconsin Department of Justice has released information on the fatal officer involved shooting that happened Monday.

DOJ reports that a Racine County Sheriff’s Department deputy initiated a vehicle pursuit around 3:30 PM which continued into Kenosha County near Route 45 and Highway KR.

The driver exited the vehicle and was spotted in a field nearby.

Deputies from both Kenosha and Racine as well as Wisconsin State Troopers approached the suspect and saw that he was holding a firearm.

After giving commands to drop the weapon, the officers fired shots striking the suspect.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The officers involved were placed on administrative leave.

No officers were injured.

The DOJ’s Department of Criminal Investigation is in charge of the case.
