Kenosha City Budget Passes, Adds Emergency Blood Storage On Rescue Units

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLIP) — The city of Kenosha’s budget has been approved, highlighted by a new program that will equip rescue units with emergency blood storage capabilities.

The budget maintains current service levels while introducing innovative first responder services.

Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala told the WLIP Morning Show that the most significant addition is a program that will enable rescue units to carry and potentially use blood in emergency medical situations.

“With the closing of (Kenosha Hospital) downtown, and now you got increased travel time. you’re seeing increased numbers for EMS calls for service. Having (the donated blood) as a potential-we may never use it-but if we do need it, we thank god that we have the foresight to be able to figure out a way to make that happen,” Bogdala said.

Despite state-imposed funding constraints, Bogdala emphasized the city’s ability to add services creatively.

The budget reflects ongoing commitments to high-level municipal services amid challenging financial environments.
