KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–The city of Kenosha has taken another step towards adding police body cams next year.

The Public Safety and Welfare Committee unanimously approved the purchase of one hundred seventy-five body cams and an additional 60 squad car cams to the tune of 750-thousand dollars.

An additional 25-grand will be allocated in next year’s city budget for related upgraded computer software. The move is part of the on-going budget discussions for next year.

The city fast track of the cams comes in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in August. That shooting remains under investigation.
