KENOSHA, WI–For many years Kenoshans have become accustomed to separating out their recyclables in blue bags, but that system has become obsolete.

The city is the last in the state to put recyclables into blue bags, which are no longer accepted by waste management companies.

That’s according to Ellen Ferwerda of the Kenosha Green Congregations Group, who told the Kenosha Common Council that the bags and their contents just end up in a landfill.

Ferwerda says that Kenoshans need to be educated on new modern ways of recycling now and not wait for new recycling bins to be distributed-which would be next year at the earliest.
