Local Group Promotes Water Safety

Pete Serzant, WLIP News

KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–As last weekend’s drowning reminded us-water safety is paramount when out enjoying Kenosha’s waterways.

May is Water Safety Month and Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman told WLIP that the Kenosha Water Safety Coalition is working to educate residents about water safety and keep that safety top of mind.

The Kenosha Water Safety Coalition was formed a few years ago in response to several drownings that happened that summer with a focus on education-especially in schools.

The city and county also increased rescue measures available by the waterways such as the installation of life rings and warning signs.
