KENOSHA, WI–A Racine man is in jail after allegedly trying to set up a hit on a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy. 55 year old Kelly Rainey is alleged to have offered 4-hundred dollars to an undercover police informant if he would shoot the deputy.
After arresting Rainey, officers reportedly found a large amount of illegal drugs in his Vera Court home. Rainey denied the allegations despite the apparent existence of voicemail messages to the contrary left on the informant’s phone.
According to the criminal complaint, those messages contain evidence that Rainey planned the hit and even said he would get the gun. He’s in the Racine County jail on a 100-thousand dollar bond.
