Man Charged After Reckless Driving Crash Monday

RACINE, WI–A 48 year old Milwaukee man faces a slew of charges after an alleged reckless driving incident that happened early yesterday morning.

Kristopher Craigmiles was reportedly behind the wheel and allegedly under the influence of cocaine when he crashed through numerous barricades on I-94 in Racine County. The incident happened shortly before 1:30 AM Monday near Highway 20, in a section of I-94 closed for road work.

Witnesses say that the suspect drove around barricades, crashed through construction barrels, drove in the wrong direction, and had several close calls with almost striking workers on the scene. Officers found the vehicle damaged but stopped in one of the closed lanes.

Additionally, the displacement of the barrels caused confusion-and almost several accidents-with traffic coming upon the scene. Drivers could not tell the pattern for the closure in that area.

Craigmiles is charged with OWI, possession of marijuana, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. He’s being held on a nearly 38-thousand dollar bond.
