Man Killed In Zion Crash Identified

Zion, Ill. (WLIP)–A 65-year-old Beach Park man was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 9th Street and Green Bay Road, authorities said.

65 year old Kenneth Fike was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from his sports car, according to the Zion Police Department.

Investigators say that the preliminary investigation indicates Fike failed to yield at a posted stop sign, resulting in a collision with a small SUV.

The second driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to investigate the incident.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Wednesday, November 20.

Preliminary results attributed Fike’s death to blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
