May is water safety month in Wisconsin and Kenosha Fire officials are working to get the word out on water safety. One of the precautions the city of Kenosha has put in place over the years is the prohibition of swimming within 50 feet of the city’s piers.
The area there has dangerous swirling currents that can-and have-drawn people into water, sometimes fatally. Guy Santelli with the Kenosha Fire Safety and Prevention Bureau says that safety awareness is key to saving lives.
