More Details: Student Had No Access to Real Guns; Charges Officially Charged

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLIP) — Authorities in Kenosha have released more information following the arrest of a 13-year-old student after he allegedly made threats against a local school.

The suspect, a student at Kenosha Unified School District, was taken into custody at his home on Thursday, Nov. 8, after he surrendered to police.

No injuries were reported.

The teenager has been charged with one count of Terroristic Threats.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

According to police, detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home on Thursday afternoon and found several airsoft replica handguns and a replica rifle.

No real firearms were located.

The suspect’s mother was cooperative during the investigation and told police the teenager does not have access to real guns.

Detectives interviewed the suspect, who initially claimed he went to the school to sell candy but later told a social worker he intended to scare students.

“Incidents like these remind us that our community is not exempt,” the Kenosha Police Department said in a statement. “We need to remain vigilant and be willing to say something if we see something.”
