Mt Pleasant Seeks Deal With Microsoft For Development on Foxconn Land

KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–There is yet another announcement for future development in Mt Pleasant on 315 acres of the land that had been set aside for Foxconn.

Village leaders announced last night that Microsoft could pay $50 million for the land to build a 1 billion dollar data center.

As an incentive, Microsoft could recoup some of its annual property taxes up to $5 million if the deal is approved.

Foxconn would receive the $50 million purchase price as reimbursement for the money they originally put up for the land.

There’s no word on the number of jobs the project would bring.

The plan is the product of a year-long negotiation between the company and local officials.

The Mt Pleasant Village Board will consider it during a special meeting Thursday.
