New Policies Set to Govern Kenosha Snow Removal

Plowing and salting will begin much sooner on all Kenosha roadways this winter, thanks to an ordinance dictating full snowplow runs for 2-inch snowfalls. The changes were put into place early this year, but this will mark the first full season of new rules for plowing and salting. Under previous policy, plows were sent out only on main streets at the 2-inch mark. “Secondary” streets were next in line. Unless there was a minimum 4-inch accumulation, residential side streets often sat for days before being cleared. Major streets, bus routes and schools will still be priorities.
