Police Make Arrest in Connection With Weekend Homicide

(Waukegan, IL) Waukegan police have made an arrest after a homicide in the city. On Saturday, February 24th, police received a call about a fight in the parking lot of the La Canoa Restaurant on Green Bay Road. Upon arrival, officers found four stabbing victims (all males in their early 20’s), and after interviewing witnesses, took Jonathon Celis into custody. One of the 4 stabbing victims, identified as 24-year-old Oscar Castaneda, died from blood loss due to his injuries. Celis is now facing charges including first degree murder. The 23-year-old is being held on a 2-million-dollar bond. He’s due back in court on Thursday.
