Potawatomi Sues City of Waukegan Over Rejected Casino Bid

(Waukegan, IL) The Potawatomi are suing the city of Waukegan for rejecting their casino proposal.
The lawsuit contends that the city used false information put together by a consultant to reject the bid, and send three others for further vetting by the Illinois Gaming Board.
City lawyers say the suit is invalid, and that the consultant based some of his numbers on the only data available. The Potawatomi bid, which promised the most jobs, contained the lowest purchase price.
A re-hearing of their proposal in front of the City Council this week was also rejected.
