Racine officer found not guilty in excessive force trial

RACINE, Wis. (AP) — A jury has acquitted a Racine police officer accused of using excessive force against a Park High School student in 2015.
Officer Brinelle Nabors has been on administrative leave for more than three years after he was accused of punching a 14-year-old student while trying to arrest him on suspicion of having drugs. Nabors was found not guilty Friday after a four-day jury trial.
The Racine Police Department said in a release that Nabors will be reinstated as long as he completes mandatory training and courses on subject control techniques that were instituted by the department when the officer was on leave.
The city of Racine in 2016 settled a federal lawsuit filed by the student for $400,000.
