Reckless Driving Leads to Crash after Police Pursuit in Pleasant Prairie

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (WLIP) — A reckless driver attempted to flee from police early Sunday morning, leading to a high-speed chase and a severe crash that required airlift to a trauma center.

According to the Pleasant Prairie Police Department, officers initially stopped the vehicle around 3 a.m. on November 3rd for driving recklessly.

However, the driver fled the traffic stop, prompting a brief pursuit that was soon terminated due to the driver’s erratic and dangerous behavior.

After the pursuit was called off, the officer observed the vehicle continuing southbound on 7th Avenue at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Shortly after, the officer discovered evidence of a crash in the 700 block of 91st Street.

The vehicle had traveled approximately 65 yards off the roadway into a heavily wooded area.

Multiple fire and rescue units were dispatched to the scene to extricate the trapped driver and clear a path to the ambulance.

Due to the severity of the driver’s injuries, a Flight for Life helicopter was called in to transport the patient to a Milwaukee trauma center.

Fortunately, the driver’s injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

The Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team responded to the scene to investigate the incident.

The surrounding roadway remained closed for several hours during the investigation.

No further information has been released at this time.
