School Incident Suspect Makes Court Appearance
KENOSHA, Wis. (WLIP) — A 13-year-old boy accused of making shooting threats against Roosevelt Elementary School remained in custody after appearing in juvenile court via Zoom.
The teen, who is not being identified because he is a minor, was arrested last Thursday after allegedly attempting to enter the school.
While police initially believed he was armed, a subsequent search of his home revealed only airsoft guns.
Investigators allege the teen researched school shootings, accessed school maps and recorded videos of himself practicing with what appeared to be a weapon.
The boy’s defense disputed the evidence, telling the court that what was on video has nothing to do with this event.
A competency examination of the teen was granted by the court.
The teen is scheduled to return to court Nov. 22.
