Sherriff’s Department Warns Against Bringing Weed Across Cheddar Curtain

KENOSHA, WI—The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department is being blunt about marijuana coming in from Illinois…don’t do it.
Weed will be legal in Illinois beginning next month and in a statement yesterday the K.S.D. says that they realize people can travel from Wisconsin to Illinois to use the drug.
But there should be no confusion on the fact that marijuana remains illegal in Wisconsin and laws will be enforced if anyone is found in possession of weed in the state.
Illinois residents will be able to purchase around an ounce of marijuana beginning Jan 1st while out of state residents will be able to buy around a half an ounce.
The sheriff’s department says that any illegal drug activity should be reported to law enforcement authorities.
