Speed Limit Drops on Wisconsin Highway Following Safety Review

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLIP) — State transportation officials will reduce the speed limit on a stretch of Highway 32 in Kenosha County from 45 mph to 35 mph beginning Monday, citing safety concerns for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

The affected area runs between Highway KR and the northern boundary of Carthage College campus.

The change comes as part of a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Kenosha County, the City of Kenosha, and the Village of Somers.

Officials plan to install new signage and electronic message boards along the corridor.

Local law enforcement will increase patrols to ensure compliance with the new speed restriction.

The decision follows a safety review of the highway segment, which identified the need for additional measures to reduce crashes in the area.
