Teen Bicyclist Killed in Waukegan Hit-and-Run

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WLIP) — A 17-year-old bicyclist died early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in Waukegan, authorities said.

Jorge Carmona was hit around 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Belvidere Road and Fulton Avenue, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office determined Tuesday that Carmona died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.

Police are searching for the driver who left the scene.

The Waukegan Police Department and Fire Department initially responded to the incident.
