It was a very special night at Alan Ameche Field on Friday.

Tremper High School honored former longtime head football coach, the late Frank Matrise Jr. at a halftime ceremony.

On hand was much of Frank’s family, including his father Frank Senior, as Tremper principal Steve Knecht recounted his favorite memories of Matrise. Then 14th district Alderman Dan Prozanski made a surprise announcement to the crowd.

Matrise was coach at Tremper from 1997-2015, amassing a record of 115-78, and is a member of the Wisconsin Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
