US Rep Calls for Suspension of Operations at Waukegan Site

(Waukegan, IL) Just a few days into testing for a known cancer causing agent, a US Congressman has called for a suspension of operations at a Waukegan plant.
Ethylene oxide monitors have revealed elevated levels of the chemical outside of the Medline facility in Waukegan, and much lower levels at Vantage Specialty Chemicals in Gurnee.
The discovery in Waukegan led U.S. Representative Brad Schneider to call for the closure of the Medline facility until the problem is taken care of. Both facilities say they are making improvements to cut EtO levels…testing is expected to continue.
