Very High Fire Danger in Kenosha County & Across Southern Half Of Wisconsin

By Pete Serzant, WLIP News

KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–Kenosha County is one of more than 40 Wisconsin counties that are under very high fire danger.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources asks the public to be vigilant and avoid burning over the next few days.

Warm, dry, and windy conditions are forecasted through Thursday.

DNR officials say those conditions have led to 34 wildfires burning 45 acres in the last week.

The fires have been small and quickly contained so far.

All burning such as campfires or other other door burning should be avoided.

Officials also say care should be taken when using equipment that could cause sparks in areas more likely to burn.

The entire lower third of the state of Wisconsin is in the “very high” risk category with the northern part of the state in the low to moderate range.
