Ward, Charged with Homicide, to Appear Monday

RACINE, WI–The man arrested in connection with the death of Officer John Hetland was released from federal prison just days before the shooting.
As reported first on WLIP, the suspect has been identified as 26 year old Dalquavis T. Ward of Milwaukee.
According to the Racine Journal Times, Ward was released on June 13th, four days before the shooting death of Racine Police Officer John Hetland at Teezers Bar and Grill in Racine on June 17th.
Ward will be charged with first degree intentional homicide, armed robbery, and other charges. He due in court for an initial appearance on Monday.
Ward has a long criminal history, starting when he was 14 years old. He was in federal prison on a conviction connected to the robbery of a Racine Liquor Store in February 2016. The federal charges were due to the store being involved with “interstate commerce.”
