WLIP Game of the Week: St Cat’s Ends St. Joe’s Long Regular Season Winning Streak
Kenosha, WI (WLIP)–St. Catherine’s Angels defeated St. Joseph’s Lancers 18-7 in a hard-fought football game, highlighted by a strong defensive effort and a concerning injury to St. Joseph’s quarterback.
It was the Lancers first regular season loss since November of 2020.
The game began with St. Catherine’s scoring on a running plan, although they missed the extra point, leaving the score at 6-0.
St. Joseph’s responded with a touchdown on a quarterback sneak early in the second quarter, taking a 7-6 lead after a successful extra point.
Despite several penalties, St. Catherine’s managed to regain the lead, making it 12-7 before scoring a last-minute touchdown to seal the victory at 18-7.
St Joe’s starting quarterback Zach Rizzo left the game late with an apparent injury but WLIP was told after the game that Rizzo had the wind knocked out of him.
He’s expected to be ok for St. Joe’s in another non-conference match-up next week.
