WLIP Sports 7/16/18

The Kingfish beat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters by a score of 4-0 Sunday.  The Fish have the day off before taking on the Green Bay Bullfrogs for two games at Simmons Field.

Rotary Softball…Blues and the Brothers won the men’s title…Squirrels won the women’s championship.

Josh Bell hit a game-ending two-run double in the 10th inning to send the Pirates to 7-6 victory over the Brewers, giving Pittsburgh a five-game sweep of Milwaukee. With rain falling, Gregory Polanco and Colin Moran singled to put runners on the corners for Bell, who drove a pitch from Dan Jennings over the head of Lorenzo Cain. The relay throw beat Moran home but trickled through the legs of catcher Erik Kratz.

Jon Lester won for the eighth time in nine starts, Jason Heyward drove in two runs and the Chicago Cubs swept the San Diego Padres with a 7-4 win.

Daniel Palka and Yoan Moncada each homered and Lucas Giolito tossed two-hit ball into the seventh inning, lifting the Chicago White Sox to a 10-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

The MLB All Star break starts with the Home Run derby at 7pm. Jesus Aguilar of the Brewers, along with Javy Baez and Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs will participate.

Jabari Parker and the Chicago Bulls have agreed to a $40 million, two-year contract, bringing the oft-injured forward to his hometown team. His agent has confirmed the deal after the Milwaukee Bucks rescinded their qualifying offer.
