Zion Man Accused of Making Fake Shooter Calls to Avoid Police

(Zion, IL) Police in Zion have announced charges against a man stemming from an incident earlier this month. Michael Scott is accused of calling in reports of people with guns with area stores on October 17th, as he allegedly tried to avoid police contact after his vehicle broke down. The calls, however, were traced to his cellphone, and though he attempted to give police a false name, and fled on foot…the 31-year-old was eventually arrested. Scott now faces charges including felony obstruction and disorderly conduct, as well as misdemeanor resisting. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for an alleged robbery in Indiana.
