Zion Police Respond to Gunfire Incident, Minor Injuries Reported

Zion, Il (WLIP)—On May 25, 2024, at 2:17 pm, Zion Police responded to reports of gunfire on Galilee Ave.

A father informed officers that his 4-year-old daughter had been struck in the head by a bullet.

The child, with a minor injury, was treated and released from the hospital the same day.

Evidence from at least two firearms was found at the scene, with damage to nearby vehicles and buildings.

No other injuries were reported.

Police identified two groups exchanging gunfire and arrested a 17-year-old suspect near his apartment, who was sent to juvenile detention for aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Authorities are still seeking additional suspects.
