(Highland Park, IL) Police in Highland Park say some quick thinking employees thwarted an armed robbery over the weekend.

Police were called to the CVS in the 15-hundred block Clavey Road early Sunday morning after two men reportedly entered the store, one of them armed with a gun.

Employees were able to escape out a back door, and were said to intentionally set off a fire alarm, which scared off the would-be robbers.

A heavy police presence came to the scene to make sure the offenders weren’t still inside. There were no reported injuries, and the situation remains under investigation.
