KENOSHA, WI (WLIP)–The Kenosha Common Council approved the purchase of a property on the west end of the city’s downtown.

The property in the 51-hundred block of 13th Avenue is privately owned and will be purchased for nearly 110-thousand dollars after broker fees.

While the area is not officially being targeted for redevelopment it may be in the future.

However 16th District Alderman Dominic Ruffalo voted against the purchase saying the city should clean-up its own mess in the neighborhood.

The purchase was approved 14-3.

The city will manage and collect rent from the property for up to six months while the current owner finds another place to live.
