Haribo Makes Big Contribution to Rec Plex

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI (WLIP)–The Village of Pleasant Prairie received good news as it approved the 2021 budget Monday Night.
During a special budget meeting, village officials announced that German Candy Maker -and soon to be Pleasant Prairie manufacturer-Haribo made a 1-point-5 million dollar contribution to the Rec Plex that lowers the facility’s burden on the village’s tax levy.
The proposed tax levy increase to service the facility’s debt was 1-point-5 million dollars before the donation.
As passed, it’s only 500-thousand dollars. While most of the donation goes towards the debt, 200-thousand dollars go to a scholarship fund for families that could not otherwise afford to use the facility.
