Lake County Sheriff’s K9 Dax Takes a Bite Out of Domestic Battery Suspect

(Barrington, IL) A Lake County Sheriff’s K9 is being credited with an assist in capturing a domestic battery subject that fled after his arrest. Lake County Sheriff’s officials say K9 Dax and Deputy John Forlenza were called on Sunday morning after Jaime Romero escaped from a Barrington area hospital. Dax was able to track the 51-year-old to a nearby doctor’s office, where he refused to come out. The K9 was deployed and bit Romero, who punched Dax…but the dog was unphased and continued biting the suspect until he was taken into custody. Romero has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, striking a police animal, resisting and criminal trespass. The Island Lake man is due in a Lake County Courtroom Tuesday morning.
