Multiple Lake County Crashes Leave One Dead, Two Critical

(Old Mill Creek, IL) One person was seriously injured after a crash in the Old Mill Creek area. Lake County Sheriff’s officials say the incident took place around 6:20 Monday morning at Routes 45 and 173. A preliminary investigation shows that a BMW being driven by a 38-year-old Schaumburg man disobeyed a red light and ended up under the trailer of a semi that was proceeding through a green light. The 38-year-old was airlifted to Advocate Condell with life threatening injuries. Authorities believe the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash and that alcohol was a factor. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
