MILWAUKEE, WI— The Milwaukee Brewers passed the Cubs for the NL’s second Wild Card spot with a 5-1 win over San Diego Thursday. They are now within one game of Washington for the top spot, and remain three behind St Louis.

That’s because the Cardinals held off the Cubs 5-4 in 10 innings. Despite a 9th inning comeback, the Cubs are on the outside looking in on the playoff chase.

The Brewers welcome the Pirates to Miller Park tonight with a Chase Anderson on the mound. Alec Mills will start for the Cubs this afternoon against St Louis.
